Beacon Sports: PBA students interview NFL star

The Super Bowl was yesterday, and most students were excited about seeing two great quarterbacks, Peyton Manning and Drew Brees, go head-to-head.

However, Palm Beach Atlantic University students Jared Stresen-Reuter and Jon Blank were more concerned with the where-abouts of Chicago Bears star Devin Hester.

Hester is a wide receiver and return specialist for the Chicago Bears.

He is an alumnus of the University of Miami, where he became the first person in the university’s recent history to play on all three teams in football: offense, defense and special teams.

Hester holds the NFL’s all-time record for most kicks returned for a touchdown in a single season.

Beacon Sports: Intramural football is fan favorite

Intramural sports are beginning to give the intercollegiate sports at Palm Beach Atlantic University a run for their money.

The intramural flag football season is definitely becoming one of the favorites on campus. Flag football is one of the sports activities created for students to have fun and promote school spirit.

Flag football is continuously expanding as the program gains popularity.

This season of intramural flag football began in October and will end Dec. 4. The games are held Monday through Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m.

Beacon Sports: NFC contenders look stronger this year

The National Football Conference appears to be wide open this season, with many viable contenders that could make it to Miami to take on the AFC representative.

Despite typically being the weaker conference, the NFC was represented well by the Arizona Cardinals in last year’s Super Bowl bout with the Steelers.

A year ago, the New York Giants pulled off one of the biggest upsets in sports history beating the previously unbeaten New England Patriots to win Super Bowl 42.
