Head out to Sailfish Sunday!

Palm Beach Atlantic University’s Athletic Department is holding its first ever Sailfish Sunday event from 2 to 5 p.m. in the Greene Complex.

The event will feature carnival rides and games, such as hula hooping, bean bag tossing, baseball throwing, soccer activities, surprise guests, two bounce houses, face painting, music and concessions. The evening concludes with the “PBA’s Got Talent” show featuring performances by some of PBA’s athletes.

“The idea of putting on an actual carnival was the result of a brain storming session the athletic’s staff and coaches had in August at our beginning of the year event,” said Event Organizer Jennifer Farroll.

“This is PBA Athletic’s first real community engagement event where we are reaching out to our community to show appreciation and hopefully the love of Christ,” said Coach Bob White, director of the Athletic Department.

Farroll said the NCAA encourages community engagement events, which inspired PBA’s Athletic Department to sponsor the event.

“Most of our athletes are looking forward to hosting this carnival and interacting with kids and families from the West Palm Beach area,” Farroll said.

The feedback from the community has been positive so far, Farroll said, especially because Sailfish Sunday is completely free.

“People seem to be excited at the prospect of an event of this kind, taking place on a college campus, hosted by college athletes,” Farroll said.

The Athletic Department hopes that this event will show the community that it is appreciated.

“Our greatest hope and prayer is that we can have an eternal impact on the lives of the children and their families that attend our event,” Farroll said.
